Courtney leads Penn State past Stanford

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Megan Courtney had 23 kills and defending champion Penn State beat top-seeded Stanford 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21 on Thursday night to reach the NCAA women's volleyball final.

Micha Hancock had 55 set assists and Ali Frantti added 16 kills for the Nittany Lions (35-3), They will seek their seventh championship and sixth in eight years Saturday night against BYU.

Brittany Howard had 13 kills, and Merete Lutz and Jordan Burgess added 10 each for Stanford (33-2), which beat Penn State in the regular season.

BYU beat Texas 25-23, 25-16, 17-25, 26-24 in the first semifinal.
