Svendsen, Domracheva win biathlon pursuits
POKLJUKA, Slovenia (AP) Emil Hegle Svendsen of Norway won a men's 12.5-kilometer pursuit race on Saturday to take the overall biathlon World Cup lead.
Svendsen shot clean for the second day in a row to overtake Friday's sprint winner Anton Shipulin and finish in 30 minutes, 43.3 seconds. Shipulin missed two targets and was 17.8 seconds back in second.
Martin Fourcade of France was third, 59.5 seconds back, and saw himself leapfrogged by Svendsen in the overall standings. The Norwegian now leads on 311 points, four ahead of Fourcade.
In the women's 10K pursuit, Darya Domracheva beat overall leader Kaisa Makarainen to win in 29:55.9. Domracheva started sixth, 39 seconds behind Thursday's sprint winner Gabriela Soukalova, but hit her first 19 shots and could afford a miss on the last one. Makarainen was 10 seconds back in second. Valj Semerenko of Ukraine was third.
