LONDON (AP) In Italy, the Serie A football season is in full swing. Capital city team Roma played Juventus on March 2. As is traditional, flared were ignited around the stadium producing clouds of smoke, On March 8 Roma traveled to Chievo Verona. In Spain, goal machine Luis Suarez of Barcelona scored against Rayo Vallecano at the Camp Nou.

In the English Premier League Tottenham's Ryan Mason scored against Swansea at White Hart Lane. Yannick Bolasie of Crystal Palace and Southampton's Maya Yoshida collided painfully at St Mary's stadium.

The winter sports season is coming to an end in Europe, but there's still plenty of snow around.

Elena Nikitina of Russia crashed during her first run in the Skeleton at the Bob and Skeleton World Championships in Germany and Austria's Hannes Reichelt won the men's World Cup downhill in Kvitfjell, Norway. France's Marie Dorin Habert celebrated on the finishing line after winning the Women's Pursuit 10km at the Biathlon World Championship in Germany. Russia's Ekaterina Tudegesheva fell in the women's parallel slalom in a Snowboard World Cup event in Moscow.

Thousands skied from Maloja to S-Chanf in Switzerland in the annual Engadin marathon on Sunday. In Prague, athletics went inside at the European Indoors Championships.
