TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) A University of Arizona assistant track coach arrested on suspicion of domestic violence allegedly threatened a student-athlete with a box cutter.
Campus police say throws coach Craig Carter remains in the Pima County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
The 47-year-old Carter is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, threats and intimidation with injury and damage, and stalking.
Court records show Carter has been in a relationship with an unidentified track athlete for the past 2 1/2 years.
Records state Carter recently threatened the woman with a box cutter, choked and stalked her and tried to drag her out of a classroom before she fled from his grasp.
University spokesman Chris Sigurdson says Carter has been suspended since his arrest Friday and the school is initiating a dismissal procedure.
