Just 69 players remain in World Series of Poker main event
LAS VEGAS (AP) The World Series of Poker main event is down to 69 players with their eyes on a $7.7 million prize and a coveted gold bracelet.
Organizers of the no-limit Texas Hold 'em main event expect the field to shrink to a final nine by late Tuesday, with each player guaranteed at least $1 million and a return trip to Las Vegas in November to battle for the top prize.
The ''November Nine'' will have outlasted a field of 6,420 card players who began playing July 5 and wagered $10,000 each for the chance to be poker's next champion.
Poker pro Daniel Negreanu remains in the running at 22nd in chips. Just behind is Amar Anand, a chip leader for two days. 72-year-old Pierre Neuville leads the pack when gameplay restarts on Monday.
