FRISCO, Texas (AP) Michel fed Tesho Akindele for a goal and added another later in the first half and FC Dallas beat expansion New York City FC 2-1on Saturday night for their third straight victory.

Michel found Akindele along the right sideline with a long pass and he carried the ball into the penalty area and unleashed a shot off his right foot that found the upper left corner in the 45th minute. Michel then bent a corner kick cleanly past goalkeeper Josh Saunders in the fourth minute of extra time to give FC Dallas (14-8-5) a 2-0 lead.

Patrick Mullins left-footed a penalty kick into the lower left corner in the 70th minute to pull NYC (7-14-7) within a goal. After a steal near midfield, Mullins lofted a pass from the top of the penalty area toward Ned Grabavoy and Atiba Harris was called for the penalty.
