Brittany Bowe wins 500m, 1500m at World Cup qualifier

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Olympian Brittany Bowe won the women's 500 meters in 37.67 seconds Saturday in on the second day of the U.S. Speedskating Long Track World Cup qualifier.

Olympian Heather Richardson-Bergsma was second in 37.79, and Sugar Todd third in 38.25.

Olympian Mitch Whitmore won the men's 500 in 34.67 and Jonathan Garcia turned in a personal best of 35.03 to finish second. Joey Mantia was third with a time of 35.72.

Bowe also won the women's 1,500 with a time of 1:53.29, while Richardson-Bergsma was second, again, in 1:53.93. Paige Schwartzburg took third with a personal record of 1:58.96.

Mantia crossed the line first in the men's 1,500 with a time of 1:43.71. Olympic champion Shani Davis was second in 1:45.28 and Kimani Griffin placed third in 1:48.82.
