LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) Georges Guelzec and Morinari Watanabe are in the running to replace Bruno Grandi as president of the International Gymnastics Federation.

The FIG says the election will take place at the FIG congress in Tokyo from Oct. 18-20, where congress will elect a successor to 82-year-old Grandi, who is leaving later this year at the end of his fifth mandate.

The 68-year-old Guelzec, who is French, is president of the European Gymnastics Union, while the 57-year-old Watanabe is Japanese and is the Japan Gymnastics Association's secretary general.

The new president will be the ninth in the history of the FIG, which was established in 1881.
