Niskanen wins men's 15K race, Bjogren takes women's 10K

KUUSAMO, Finland (AP) Finland's Iivo Niskanen won the men's World Cup classic 15-kilometer cross-country race on Sunday in 35 minutes, 27.6 seconds.

He was 10.2 seconds ahead of Norway's Emil Iversen and his compatriot Martin Johnsrud Sundby, who was 11.2 seconds behind the Finn.

The women's 10-kilometer race on the Ruka track was dominated by Norway's Marit Bjorgen in a time of 26 minutes, 55.2 seconds, ahead of Finland's Krista Parmakoski, 4.6 seconds behind. Norway's Heidi Weng came third, 12.7 seconds behind her compatriot.

In the men's Nordic combined, Germany's Johannes Rydzek took his second competition win of the weekend, giving him a lead of 98 points in the overall standings over Austrian veteran Willi Denifl, who finished 14.7 seconds behind. Japan's Akito Watabe came third in a finish sprint fight against Austria's Mario Seidl.
