British sprinters in a Tenerife hospital after road accident

LONDON (AP) The British track and field federation says sprinters James Ellington and Nigel Levine have been hospitalized after being involved in a road accident on the Canary Islands.

British Athletics says the pair is ''receiving medical treatment and are conscious and stable.''

Ellington and Levine are accompanied by medical staff from British Athletics, who are liaising with the hospital over the treatment. They were taking part in warm-weather training in Tenerife.

The 31-year-old Ellington competed at the Olympics in 2012 and 2016. He was also a member of British gold medal-winning 4x100-meter relay teams at the 2014 and 2016 European Championships.

The 27-year-old Levine is a 400-meter runner.
