North Texas eases past Arkansas Monticello 84-62

DENTON, Texas (AP) Jeremy Combs scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead North Texas to an 84-62 win over Arkansas Monticello on Friday night.

Jordan Williams added 12, Colin Voss and Maurice Aniefiok had 11 each, and Greg White-Pittman and Muhammed Ahmed finished with 10 for North Texas (1-0). Williams had nine assists and Aniefiok led the Mean Green defense with four steals.

Richard Benedyth led Arkansas Monticello with 16 points, D'Audrio Patton had 15 and Sharif Hudson 10. The Weevils made just 25 of 72 shots, including 7 of 22 from behind the arc.

The Mean Green made 58.6 percent of their 58 shots, but converted just 13 of 24 free throws.
