Northwestern State gets past Lyon College 75-64

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Jalan West and Zeek Woodley combined for 35 points as Northwestern State defeated NAIA's Lyon College 75-64 on Monday night.

West, who scored 18 points, also had nine assists. Marvin Frazier added 13 points and Tra'von Joseph 10.

Northwestern State (1-1) jumped to an early 19-4 lead and never trailed. They led 46-34 at the half and extended that lead to 60-40 with 11:20 remaining in the game.

The Scots closed to 66-54 with 4:38 remaining following a three-point play by Ben Worlow. Worlow hit two more free throws at the end of the game to cut the lead to 10, 74-64. The Demons made 26 of 66 field goal attempts but missed their last 20 3-point attempts, hitting just 4 of 26 for the game.

Worlow led the Scots with 33 points, making 10 of 18 from the field, and hitting 13 of 15 free throw attempts.
