NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Jack Montague and Sam Downey scored 18 points apiece to lead Yale past Newbury 97-51 on Monday night.

Matt Townsend added 14 points for Yale (1-1), which made 51.3 percent of its 76 shots, including 10 3-pointers. Montague made 6 of 7 shots from behind the arc and Downey hit 8 of 10 field goals. The Bulldogs outrebounded Newbury, a Division III school, 53-32.

Daivon Edwards paced Newbury (1-2) with 14 points and Jeremiah Ephraim added 10. The Nighthawks made just 17 of 64 shots (26.6 percent.)

Yale led 34-19 at halftime, behind Montague's nine points. The Bulldogs held Newbury to just 8 of 37 (21.6 percent) from the field, including 3 of 16 from 3-point range.
