Florida Gulf Coast beats Ohio 79-62

FORT MEYERS, Fla. (AP) Bernard Thompson scored 34 points, and Brett Comer dished out 10 assists to lead Florida Gulf Coast to a 79-62 victory over Ohio on Wednesday night.

Comer is now the all-time Atlantic Sun Conference career assist leader with 641, surpassing Mercer's Langston Hall's record of 633. He has had 10 or more assists in each game to open the season.

Thompson scored 18 points in the first half as Florida Gulf Coast built a 45-20 halftime lead. Thompson was 14 of 20 from the field, including three 3-pointers.

Jamail Jones and Marc-Eddy Norelia each added 11 points for the Eagles.

Javarez Willis scored 17 points and Maurice Daly Ndour chipped in 16 for Ohio (1-1), who shot just 33 percent (20 of 60) from the floor.

Florida Gulf Coast (3-0) has not started a season 3-0 since 2005-06.
