CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) Corey Hawkins scored 28 points including five in the final 2 minutes to give UC Davis a 63-61 win over Eastern Illinois on Thursday night.

Hawkins hit a jumper, grabbed a crucial defensive rebound, and then sank 3 of 4 from the line all within the final 1:14 to keep the Aggies (2-0) one step ahead of Panthers (1-2) for the win. Josh Ritchart added 14 points.

The Aggies went 13-6 to start the first period and led 34-33 at halftime.

A Tyler Les 3-pointer midway through the second put the Aggies up by 10 points before Eastern Illinois rallied with a 13-2 run that gave the Panthers a 51-50 lead with 8 minutes to play. Ritchart tied it at 58 on a 3 with 3:06 left before Hawkins' final five points sealed the Aggies' win.

Dylan Chatman led the Panthers with 15 points and five rebounds.
