Amin Torres added 15 points from the bench for the Colonels (1-4). T.J. Carpenter had 13 points and five rebounds and Ja'Dante Frye chipped in with 12. The team hit 54.5 percent from the field overall, 66.7 percent from the line and 31.8 percent from 3-point range.
Torres hit a 3-pointer in the final 40 seconds of the first period for a 35-20 Nicholls State lead. The Wolfpack closed the gap to eight points with an 8-3 run to start the second half but the Colonels reopened a double-digit lead on back-to-back 3s by Torres and Luka Kamber. A strong 12-4 finish sealed the win for Nicholls State.
Daniel Kuhl led the Wolfpack with 17 points and four rebounds. Nick Parker added 11.
