Moore, Thompson lead George Mason over Iona 86-81

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) Marquise Moore scored a career-high 23 points and Shevon Thompson scored 13 and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead George Mason over Iona 86-81 on Saturday night.

Thompson's double-double was his fourth. Isaiah Jackson added 14 points and Patrick Holloway 10 for the Patriots (4-6).

Kelvin Amayo scored a career-high 23 points for Iona (6-4) with Schadrac Casimir adding 17. David Laury had 16 points and 16 rebounds, his fourth double-double in his last five games. A.J. English, who came as the nation's leading scorer at 24.4 per game, had 10.

The Patriots took the lead for good with 9:22 left in the first half and built it to 13 in the second half. Iona cut it to four with 18.7 seconds left. But Corey Edwards made a free throw and Jackson followed with two more, the last of 14 free throws that accounted for the Patriots' final points.
