THIBODAUX, La. (AP) T.J. Carpenter had 19 points as Nicholls survived a scare from Division II Spring Hill 71-64 on Tuesday night.

Carpenter was 7 of 10 from the floor. Amin Torres chipped in 10 points and Liam Thomas had six blocked shots for Nicholls (3-7).

Nicholls trailed early but had a 41-33 lead at the break. The Colonels stretched that to 59-44 with 6:33 remaining. Spring Hill made a late run as Wesley Pietri hit a 3-pointer to close to 66-57 with 1:42 left. Reginald Harbin's three-point play and pair of free throws from Jackson Foss and James Clarke cut the margin to 70-64, but with just 14 seconds remaining.

Nicholls made 24 of 43 field goal attempts (55.8 percent) while limiting the Badgers to 20-of-53 shooting (37.7 percent).

Robert Drummond had 13 points, Pietri added 12 and Jarrett Calhoun had 11 for Spring Hill.
