LOWELL, Mass. (AP) Chad Holley scored seven of his 9 points in a rally where Mass-Lowell scored 10 unanswered points to climb into the lead and defeat Binghamton 50-40 as both teams opened America East Conference play on Friday night.
The come-from-behind win also broke a four-game losing skid for the River Hawks (7-6, 1-0). Jahad Thomas led Mass-Lowell with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Binghamton (1-15, 0-1) opened a 10-0 lead, not allowing a point for eight minutes. The River Hawks tied at 20-20 on back-to-back 3-pointers from Brad Schaub, but the Bearcats led at the half (23-20) for just the second time this season. The lead lasted for another 10-plus minutes until Holley sank a pair of foul shots, added a layup and then a 3-pointer in 1:20.
DJ Mlachnik buried a dagger after Binghamton closed to 40-38, hitting nothing but net on the baseline 3 with 2:40 to go.
