Charlotte powers past North Texas, 73-57

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Pierra Henry scored 21 points, including hitting 11 of 12 at the free throw line, and added seven rebounds and four assists to lead Charlotte to a 73-57 victory over North Texas on Thursday night.

Braxton Ogbueze added 14 points for the 49ers (8-8, 2-2 Conference USA), who have won back-to-back games following a four game losing streak.

Charlotte smothered North Texas with its defense for much of the night, holding the Mean Green to 30.6 percent shooting from the field and 4 of 20 from the 3-point line.

Jordan Williams scored 15 points to lead North Texas (7-9, 1-3). Jeremy Combs and Maurice Aniefiok each added 11 points for the Mean Green.

North Texas held a 24-20 lead at the break, but Charlotte erupted in the second half, scoring 53 points and helped by a 16-2 run which put them in front for good.
