Loyola Marymount (5-13, 1-5 West Coast) used a 14-2 run midway through the first half - including a pair of 3-pointers by Matt Hayes - to open a 12-point lead, and led 36-26 at the break.
Portland (11-7, 2-4) cut the deficit to one on Gabe Taylor's jumper with 11:02 left, but the Lions responded with a 13-0 run to go up 62-48 with 7:20 left. Portland whittled that lead down to eight with 2:09 remaining, but Loyola made 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch to ice it.
