Long Beach State beats Hawaii 65-50
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) Travis Hammonds scored 12 points off the bench and led four players in double figures as Long Beach State chalked up its fifth-straight conference win, beating Hawaii 65-50 on Saturday night.
David Samuels finished with 11 points and nine rebounds for the 49ers (12-11, 6-1 Big West Conference). Tyler Lamb and Deontae North scored 10 points apiece. The team hit 41.9 percent from the field overall - including 6 of 18 (33.3 percent) from distance - and 76.7 percent from the free throw line.
The Rainbow Warriors (15-8, 3-4) had a 27-26 advantage at the break but fell behind early in the second half. Hawaii was just 34.5 percent from the field overall and 41.2 percent from the line.
