PROVO, Utah (AP) Kyle Collinsworth scored 17 points, including eight in a key first-half run, in helping BYU overwhelm Saint Mary's 82-60 on Thursday night.

Collinsworth's eight points sparked a 13-0 run midway through the opening half as the Cougars took a 19-point lead. The lead remained in double figures thereafter.

BYU led 42-30 at halftime and opened up the second half with six unanswered points. The Cougars led by as many as 31 points with 8:43 remaining in the game.

Skyler Halford added 17 points, Tyler Haws 15 and Chase Fischer 14 for the Cougars (19-8, 9-5 West Coast Conference), who are alone in third place after Pepperdine lost to Portland Thursday. BYU made 9 of 19 3-pointers and shot 50 percent overall.

Brad Waldow scored 17 points for the Gaels (18-6, 10-3), who are second in the WCC behind third-ranked Gonzaga. Garrett Jackson added 13 points and Kerry Carter 11.
