MIAMI (AP) Daviyon Draper scored 20 points and Dennis Mavin added 19 - sinking a pair of free throws with four seconds remaining - as FIU edged UAB 70-66 to wrap up the regular season on Saturday night.

Despite the loss, UAB (16-15, 12-6) enters the Conference USA tournament as a No. 4 seed and claims a first-round bye. Florida International (15-16, 8-10) is in the tournament for the first time, disqualified last year by NCAA sanctions.

Adrian Diaz blocked 13 shots - an NCAA season-high - scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Panthers. Kris Gulley also scored 14, including a clutch three-point play with 26 seconds remaining to give FIU the lead for good.

Mavin had missed a layup coming out of a UAB timeout, FIU trailing 66-65, but Gulley snared the rebound, scored and was fouled. He hit the free throw for a 68-66 lead.

Nick Norton led UAB with 17 points.
