Auburn guard Antoine Mason honored his father, Anthony Mason, with a tribute on his shoes for Wednesday's SEC tournament game against Mississippi State.
Before the game, Mason also honored his father on Twitter with a series of tweets.
The hardest thing is the fact I cant see & speak to him physically but I'm lucky enough to have voicemails videos YouTube to relive moments— $onic_Mr. May 24th (@Antoine_Mason) March 11, 2015
Anthony Mason died at the age of 48 on Feb. 28 after suffering a heart attack. A popular player known for his gritty style and unique skill set, Mason spent 13 seasons in the NBA from 1989 to 2003.
Antoine missed three games while spending time with his family, and was flying back and forth from Auburn to New York after his father suffered congestive heart failure in early February.
A 6'1" senior guard, Mason is the Tigers' second-leading scorer at 15.1 points per game. He transferred to Auburn last summer after graduating in four years from Niagara University.
Auburn defeated Mississippi State 74-68 on Wednesday, snapping a six-game losing streak. Mason scored four points off the bench.
Auburn will play Texas A&M on Thursday.
