PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Second-seeded Arizona will open NCAA Tournament play in the West Region on Friday in Portland, Oregon, facing No. 15 seed Texas Southern and former Indiana coach Mike Davis.

Arizona (31-3) won the Pac-12 Conference regular-season title then made an impressive run through the Pac-12 tournament, taking down California, nemesis UCLA and blowing out Oregon in the final. The Wildcats are led by point guard T.J. McConnell and Pac-12 freshman of the year Stanley Johnson but it was Brandon Ashley that was the most outstanding player of the Pac-12 tourney.

Texas Southern (21-12) guaranteed its spot in the tournament be reaching the Southwestern Athletic Conference final against Southern, which was ineligible for postseason play due to APR sanctions. But Texas Southern has proven itself this season with wins at Michigan State and at Kansas State during non-conference play.
