Four-star 2016 center Derek Funderburk verbally committed to Ohio State on Wednesday. 

Funderburk is ranked as the No. 48 player in his class on and chose the Buckeyes over offers from Iowa, Indiana, Penn State and Xavier

A native of Lakewood, Ohio, the 6'9" center is Ohio State's first 2016 commitment. The Buckeyes' 2015 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation on Rivals and No. 1 in the Big Ten. 

Ohio State finished 24-11 this season, earning a No. 10 seed in the NCAA tournament before losing to Arizona in the Round of 32.
