Montrezl Harrell of Louisville wins Power Forward of Year

LOS ANGELES (AP) Montrezl Harrell of Louisville has won the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year award.

He received the trophy Friday night from Malone at the first College Basketball Awards from Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles.

Harrell helped the Cardinals reach their fifth NCAA regional final in eight years, where they lost to Michigan State in overtime.

He played on Louisville's 2013 national championship team and is headed to the NBA draft after three years in school.

The winner was decided by a combination of fan votes and input from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame selection committee.
