Report: La Tech's Michael White emerges as Florida's top candidate
Thursday May 7th, 2015

Louisiana Tech head coach Michael White is the "leading candidate" to replace Billy Donovan at Florida, Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde reports

Donovan was hired as the head coach of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder on April 30 after 19 seasons with the Gators. Florida made four Final Four appearances and won two national championships during his tenure.

White, 38, has been the head coach Louisiana Tech since 2011 and has led the team to three straight NIT appearances. He was a four-year starter at point guard for Ole Miss and later returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach. He spent seven years on the Rebels bench before being hired by Louisiana Tech.

TAYLOR: More college coaches will get NBA call thanks to Stevens, Donovan

Forde notes that White has experience recruiting players from Florida, with five Sunshine State natives on his roster last season.
