Arizona men's basketball coach Sean Miller was named the new 2015 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team, USA Basketball announced on Thursday. Miller will replace former Florida head coach Billy Donovan, who was previously announced as the team's coach in January, after joining the Oklahoma City Thunder in April.

Donovan was due to be the first repeat head coach for USA Basketball's U19 team in program history. Under his leadership, the U19 National Team won the gold medal in 2013.

Miller will attempt to defend USA Basketball's title at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Crete, Greece this summer. Staff: Who will return Blatt or Thibodeau?

The Arizona coach, along with Providence head coach Ed Cooley, served as assistants to Donovan in 2014, helping lead the USA U18 National Team to a gold medal at the FIBA Americas Championship last summer.

Cooley will remain as an assistant with Miller's younger brother Archie, the head coach at the University of Dayton, who will also join the coaching staff.

“I am honored to be named head coach of the USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team,” Sean Miller said in a statement to Arizona Athletics. “It is exciting to be coaching such a talented group of young players, as well as working alongside a great coaching staff. I look forward to the responsibility and challenges that lie ahead in our journey to win the gold medal at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.”

Miller owns two gold medals as a member of the USA Basketball program, having played at the 1991 World University Games in addition to last summer's gold medal he received as a coach.
