St. John's transfer Chris Obekpa commits to UNLV
Wednesday August 5th, 2015

St. John's transfer Chris Obekpa has announced his commitment to UNLV.

Obekpa announced his decision with an Instagram post Wednesday afternoon. CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein confirmed that the post indicated a commitment.

Obekpa, a 6'10" big man, will sit out the 2015-16 season and have one year of eligibility remaining. One of the top shot-blockers in the country, he averaged 5.8 points, seven rebounds and 3.1 blocks in 27.3 minutes per game last season as a junior. He reportedly visited UNLV earlier in the week.

Obekpa left the program in June, after new head coach Chris Mullin and his staff replaced Steve Lavin at St. John's.
