South Carolina State takes care of NAIA Voorhees 113-69

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) Eric Eaves scored 25 points, Gabriel McCray had 17 points and seven rebounds, and South Carolina State easily dispatched NAIA Vorhees College 113-69 on Monday night.

South Carolina State (1-1) shot 53 percent from the field, including a 60 percent clip in the second half when they tallied 61 points.

Eaves made 6 of 13 shots from the field and 11 of 15 free-throw attempts to go along with four assists. He scored 16 of his 25 points in the first half. Greg Mortimer had 13 points and six assists.

Louis Desmond made all six free throws en route to a 17-point night for Voorhees, though he did commit seven turnovers. Desmond's 3-pointer 20 seconds into the game gave the Tigers their only lead of the game.

The Bulldogs turned 18 turnovers into 28 points and scored 44 points in the paint.
