Louisville center Mangok Mathiang is out six to eight weeks with a broken bone in his foot.
Mathiang sustained the injury in the Cardinals’ 78–56 win over Western Kentucky.
“It's an unfortunate injury. Not only is he the most physical player offensively and defensively, but he talks the most,” Pitino said. “We can replace the physical stuff. But it's the talking. That's the biggest problem we will have.”
Mathiang was averaging 7.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game entering Saturday.
“It happens,” Mathiang said. “I still have to be the vocal leader and other guys have to step up.”
