Gardner-Webb beats Coastal Carolina 65-61

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) Tyrell Nelson had 20 points, seven rebounds and three blocks on Thursday night, and Gardner-Webb rallied late to beat Coastal Carolina 65-61.

The Bulldogs (7-8, 2-1 Big South Conference) trailed 60-56 when Dylan Poston made a pair of free throws and Harold McBride followed with a 3-pointer to take the lead for good.

Nelson split a pair of free throws with 48 seconds and McBride added two more from the foul line with 22 seconds left. Kevin Holmes Jr.'s free throw with 15 seconds left was Coastal Carolina's only point in the final 2:53.

McBride added 16 points and Poston had 12 to help Gardner-Webb win its second in a row.

Jaylen Shaw scored five of his 16 points during a 7-0 run that gave Coastal Carolina (7-6, 1-2) the four-point lead with less than three minutes to go.

Elijah Wilson added 13 points and Shivaughn Wiggins scored 12.
