North Carolina-Wilmington tops Elon in a shootout, 91-82

ELON, N.C. (AP) Chris Flemmings pumped in a career-high 28 points and North Carolina-Wilmington won a battle between the two top scoring offenses in the Colonial Athletic Association, topping Elon, 91-82 Thursday night.

The Seahawks (11-5, 3-2) scored nearly nine full points more than their per-game average of 82.3, and limited Elon to just 8-of-21 shooting from behind the 3-point arc, almost three treys belong their average of 10.6.

Flemmings was 11 of 16 from the field, including 5 of 9 from deep. Craig Ponder dished out five assists and made four steals to go with his 21-point performance, leaving the senior 15 points shy of becoming the 22nd Seahawk to reach 1,000 career points. He stands at 985 points in 113 career games played.

Luke Eddy scored 21 points to lead Elon (11-7, 2-3), but Tanner Samson, one of the leading scorers in the CAA, was held to eight points.
