Sacred Heart holds off Wagner 67-58 in upset
NEW YORK (AP) Cane Broome scored 17 points in a balanced attack and swung momentum with some relentless 3-point shooting just before halftime as Sacred Heart upended Wagner 67-58 on Sunday, dropping the Seahawks from first place in the Northeast Conference.
With his team trailing by seven late in the first half, Broome popped a 3-pointer, sank two free throws after being fouled chasing down a Tevin Falzon block of a Wagner shot, and then drained two more 3s as the Pioneers surged ahead 37-31 at the break.
The Pioneers shot 56 percent from the field after halftime and scored 22 points off 16 Wagner turnovers.
Corey Henson led Wagner (12-7, 5-3) with 17 points.
