Jay Williams on addiction, suicidal thoughts following career-ending crash
Wednesday January 27th, 2016

ESPN analyst Jay Williams sat down with SI’s Maggie Gray and opened up about his career-ending motorcycle accident and the downward spiral that followed.

With Williams’s new memoir, “Life is Not an Accident” releasing this week, he reflected on the 2003 crash that left him with serious injuries to his left leg and pelvis and ended his career with the Chicago Bulls after just one season.

Williams had a decorated college career at Duke, where he won the national title in 2001, and looked bound for NBA stardom before the accident nearly took his life. Now 34, he’s taken a hard look back at his choices and the pro lifestyle.

Watch the video above as Williams discusses his difficult past.
