North Florida tops Florida Gulf Coast 82-76

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Beau Beech scored 27 points with eight rebounds and North Florida held off Florida Gulf Coast 82-76 on Saturday to stay undefeated in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

FGCU used a 9-2 run late to draw within two, 76-74, with 1:35 to go. North Florida's Demarcus Daniels made 1 of 2 from the line, and then after a couple of missed jumpers from the Eagles, Daniels got loose for a layup to make it 79-74.

The teams traded free throws to make it 81-76 with 18 seconds left, and Florida Gulf Coast missed its last two shots.

North Florida (18-6, 7-0) got 18 points and eight assists from Dallas Moore and Daniels finished with 13 points and seven boards off the bench.

Marc Eddy Norelia led Florida Gulf Coast (13-10, 4-3) with 25 points and seven rebounds. Julian DeBose added 13 points.
