JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Mohamed Bendary scored 14 points to lead a group of reserve players that totaled 34 points on 71-percent shooting, and NJIT topped Jacksonville 73-58 on Saturday night.
Chris Jenkins scored 12 and Osa Izevbuwa eight off the bench for NJIT (17-12, 8-5 Atlantic Sun), which sits in a three-way tie for second place with Jacksonville and Florida Gulf Coast. North Florida is one game ahead with a 9-4 conference record.
Tim Coleman scored 12 points and had eight rebounds and six assists for NJIT, helping the Highlanders build a 42-30 lead at the break. NJIT used a 14-2 run to build its advantage to 24 points by the 10:39 mark.
The Dolphins (16-14, 8-5) never made a charge in the second half. J.R. Holder led Jacksonville with 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting and added three steals.
NJIT assisted on 18 of 27 made field goals and shot 53 percent from the field.
