William & Mary overtakes Elon 75-65

ELON, N.C. (AP) Omar Prewitt scored 19 points, including the go-ahead bucket, to lead William & Mary to a 75-65 win over Elon on Thursday night.

Terry Tarpey added 18 points while David Cohn and Daniel Dixon had 10 apiece for the Tribe (19-9, 11-6 Colonial), which shot 48 percent from the field and controlled the glass 40-31. Prewitt and Tarpey also collected seven rebounds each.

Trailing 39-32 at the break, William & Mary chipped away over the second half to take a 64-63 lead on Oliver Tot's layup before Luke Eddy put Elon (15-15, 6-11) back on top with a bucket at the other end with 4:13 left. The Tribe then got a turnover, setting up Prewitt's go-ahead jumper to make it 66-65 with 2:43 to go and continued to pull away while holding Elon scoreless down the stretch.

Tanner Samson led Elon with 18 points and Eddy finished with 12.
