Anderson scores 22, Eastern Illinois beats Murray St. 85-74

CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) Trae Anderson scored 22 on 10-of-16 shooting, and Demetrius McReynolds added 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Eastern Illinois past Murray State 85-74 Thursday night.

Casey Teson scored 13, while Cornell Johnston had 11 points and nine assists for Eastern Illinois. Patrick Muldoon scored 11 on 5-of-5 shooting.

A pair of free throws by Bryce Jones pulled Murray State (15-13, 9-6 Ohio Valley Conference) within four with 9:58 to play.

Anderson hit a jumper on the other end, then Muldoon converted a 3-point play to spark a 9-2 run that made it 69-58 with seven minutes left and the Racers trailed by at least seven the rest of the way.

Eastern Illinois shot 58 percent (29 of 50) from the field and made as many free throws (22) as Murray State attempted.

Damarcus Croaker led the Racers with a career-high 26 points. Jones added 14 points, a career-best eight rebounds and eight assists.
