King Rice's new contarct locks him up through the 2020-21 season.
Monmouth University has announced a five-year contract extension for head basketball coach King Rice that runs through the 2020-21 season.
The new deal replaces Rice's previous three-year extension that locked him in through 2018-19.
“We are extremely proud and appreciative of the work King has done with our basketball program, both on and off the court over the last five years,” athletic director Dr. Marilyn McNeil said in a statement. “I am confident that King and his staff have Monmouth basketball positioned for long-term success, academically and athletically. This new contract is evidence of our confidence in and commitment to King and Monmouth basketball.”
Rice, 47, has posted a 74–83 record since taking the helm at Monmouth in 2011. He has also served as an assistant coach at Oregon, Illinois State, Providence and Vanderbilt.
Monmouth is looking to lock up the MAAC regular season title against Rider. The Hawks are 23–6 on the season.
