Duke's Jefferson done for season, seeking hardship waiver

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Duke senior forward Amile Jefferson is done for the season because of a broken right foot, but he may return next year.

Team officials and doctors say Jefferson will miss the rest of the season for the 17th-ranked Blue Devils. The announcement came hours before their rivalry game with No. 8 North Carolina.

Jefferson was averaging 11.4 points and 10.3 rebounds in nine games before breaking his foot in December.

The school says it will seek a medical hardship waiver for Jefferson that would make him eligible for next season.
