Top Auburn recruit Austin Wiley to debut against Mercer

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Top Auburn recruit Austin Wiley has enrolled in school and will make his debut this weekend.

Tigers coach Bruce Pearl announced Friday that the five-star freshman center will play Sunday against Mercer.

Pearl says the NCAA has deemed Wiley a qualifier. He finished his high school coursework at Florida's Conrad Academy.

The 6-foot-11, 255-pound Wiley was rated a Top 20 recruit nationally by several recruiting services. He is the son of former Auburn stars Vickie Orr and Aubrey Wiley.

Wiley averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds as a junior for Spain Park in Hoover, Alabama. He played on Team USA's gold medal-winning team at the U17 world championships.

Wiley says he grew up hearing his parents talk about Auburn. As for the early eligibility, Wiley says: ''It feels like destiny.''
