UMass fires basketball coach Derek Kellogg

BOSTON (AP) Derek Kellogg has been fired as Massachusetts's basketball coach.

UMass athletic director Ryan Bamford announced the move, which comes after the Minutemen finished 15-18 this season. The team was 155-137 overall in nine seasons under Kellogg and just 67-83 in Atlantic 10 play.

The lone NCAA appearance by the Minutemen during Kellogg's tenure was in 2013-14 when they went 24-9.

Bamford says a national search for Kellogg's replacement is underway.
