Stats to know: 12.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 6.3 apg The Wolfpack may have bigger "names," but no one may be more important in terms of them meeting preseason expectations than Brown. He probably could/should have been picked as the preseason POY ahead of Leslie given all he does and his consistent, steady play.

Stats to know: 14.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.6 bpg Picked as the league's preseason player of the year, his return after a dalliance with the draft is an enormous boost for the Wolfpack's title prospects. A ridiculous athlete who's still trying to refine his basketball-specific skill, he's a handful.

James Michael McAdoo
Stats to know: 6.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 15.6 mpg He gets his marquee moment this season after the Heels' mass NBA draft exodus. With the rest of the frontcourt options very inexperienced, he'll have to play well every night for UNC to challenge for the league title.
4 of 10Andrew Hancock/SI
Stats to know: 11.1 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 57.2% FG He's the main man inside for a Blue Devils team that's a little thin in that area. He should have room to operate, though, with Ryan Kelly preferring to hurt foes from the perimeter.
5 of 10John Biever/SI
Stats to know: 14.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 40.4% 3pt Another possibility for best player in the league, the sharpshooter is going to have to carry the scoring burden for the more perimeter-oriented Seminoles. He certainly has the stroke -- and the clutchness -- to do it.
6 of 10Porter Binks/SI
Stats to know: 11.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 40.8% 3pt His ability to stretch the floor from the four while still chipping in on the glass is an extremely valuable skill set for the Blue Devils. His absence was a significant reason for Duke's late fade last season.

Stats to know: 12.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.1 apg In a league with a good deal of inexperience at the point, it's nice to have a senior there. It's also nice when he knows how to get good big men involved, and Miami has two of those, too. If Scott rediscovers his three-point stroke, all the better.

Pips UNC's Marcus Paige and Duke's Rasheed Sulaimon for the spot, even though the two other freshmen may end up posting bigger stats and/or having a larger impact on the overall fortunes of their teams. Purvis comes with the elite prep rep, though, and will add a lot to NC State's perimeter.
9 of 10David E. Klutho/SI
Stats to know: 8.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 38.2% 3pt Solid wing shooter and an underrated all-around player who will have a chance to shine this season for the new-look Tar Heels. He has the size to play multiple positions and do a better job scoring around the rim, too.
10 of 10Bill Feig/AP
Stats to know: 11.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 38.0% 3pt Buried beneath the Mike Scott show for two seasons, the sweet-shooting Harris is ready to unleash his stroke as a primary weapon. He's already made 114 3s in two seasons and without the high-usage Scott inside, the Cavaliers offense will turn to Harris' skills more often this season.
