With four overtime finishes in their last six games -- three of which were victories -- the cardiac Bulls have been earning their scholarship money. In last week's drama, quarterback Drew Willy threw two late touchdown passes to tie it, and James Starks ran 25 yards for the winning score. Next up is Kent State. After that, the bowl selection committees will have their chance to book the Bulls. For those with economical minds, they may get the most bang for their buck out of Turner Gill's team.

After reaching the heights of a 12-1 Orange Bowl campaign under Bobby Petrino in 2006, the Cardinals crashed down to earth last season with a 6-6 finish and they find themselves mired in the exact same position again this year. Needing a win over Rutgers to become bowl eligible, the 5-6 Fightin' Kragthorpes are currently caught in a four-game downward spiral. And no PR wizard could put a positive spin on their 1-5 Big East record.

About the only person being praised within the Illini program these days is offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, and that's because he's being interviewed for jobs on other campuses. Whether Locksley dresses up in Orange for Syracuse, Clemson or back with the Illini, Ron Zook will need to right his ship. Less than a year after reaching the Rose Bowl -- where they were humiliated by USC 49-17 -- Zook will not be coaching in a bowl game at all this winter. Known for his recruiting, Zook will have to fill personnel holes -- even if he doesn't have to replace Locksley.
