In beating middling Fresno State, formerly hailed for its "anybody, anywhere, anytime" mantra, the Bulldogs by the Bayou proved their worthiness. Following a season-opening upset of Mississippi State, Tech lost to two ranked opponents (Kansas, Boise State) as well as to Hawaii, before surprisingly falling to Army two weeks ago. The upcoming battle against San Jose State should shed some light on what the Bulldogs can do the rest of the way, as the Spartans stand 4-1 in the WAC (the 'Dogs are 2-2).

Meet Tyrell Fenroy. On Saturday, the 5-foot-10, 205-pound tailback from LaPlace, La., ran for 81 yards to become the seventh player in NCAA history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons. He now leads all active NCAA players with 4,322 career rushing yards and helped the Ragin' Cajuns to their fourth straight win.

Last Saturday's 28-21 upset of Louisville may go in the time capsule as the final bright victory of the Greg Robinson era. In the Carrier Dome, tailback Curtis Brinkley set a Syracuse single-season record with his fifth consecutive 100-yard game, besting legends like Jim Brown and Joe Morris. A return to happier times is what the Orange faithful desire. Until Robinson leaves, though, looking at names like Brown and Morris will serve as the sole sense of satisfaction.
