Monday July 28th, 2014

Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst would like his team to schedule annual games against West Virginia and Penn State, according to's Brett McMurphy

Pitt and WVU played a rivalry series - the Backyard Brawl - for 104 years, before moves to new conferences (WVU to the Big 12, Pitt to the ACC) ended the matchups in 2012. Pitt holds a 61-40-3 advantage in the series, though West Virginia won seven of the final ten contests.

Pitt and Penn State had a rivalry that dated back to 1893, but that series hasn't been played since 2000. However, the Panthers and Nittany Lions have scheduled a four-year series from 2016-19.

Pitt went 7-6 in its initial ACC season in 2013. The Panthers defeated Bowling Green in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, 30-27.
