USC junior tight end Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick has been ruled academically ineligible, coach Steve Sarkisian announced on Monday.

Cope-Fitzpatrick will not play this season.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Cope-Fitzpatrick appeared in 12 games as a reserve tight end and a special teams player in 2013, recording one reception for four yards.

With Cope-Fitzpatrick out, the Trojans have two scholarship tight ends on their roster.

Senior Randall Telfer has registered 44 receptions and 10 touchdowns over three season but caught only six passes for 78 yards and a touchdown in 2013, as he dealt with knee issues.
